Scope: Create a catheter device for facilitated ventilation following intubation.
Challenge: Device must provide a cost-effective way to achieve subglottic suctioning for ventilated patients in the ICU regardless of endotracheal tube type, reducing risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
Outcome: Designed from basic concept to successful market penetration. Product was acquired by Vyaire Medical. Kate (Founder of Ciel Medical) was promoted to Vice President of Airway Technologies at Vyaire.
Kate is now a Managing Partner at Sonder Capital and Assistant Director of the Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship
